Our 6 Months Journey

It feels like it was just a couple of weeks ago that we were chatting in our kitchen and decided to build a site in which we can share our learnings and invite our friends to do the same. We are definitely surprised to realize that it has already been six months, and it has come with a lot of experiences and knowledge that we would like to expose.

It turns out that only after six months of operation, and publishing 26 articles by 5 different authors, Sustainable Knowledge has received over 5,000 pageviews and more than 1,400 visitors from 64 different countries. The more substantial impact has been achieved through social networks like LinkedIn and Twitter where the site has had over 11,500 and 11,200 impressions respectively.

Lots of learning and challenges have come with the development of the project. The first one is that it is not easy to sit down and spend long hours searching for reliable information and looking for the right way to put them into words, but this comes also with the first teaching. This challenge has taught us how to beat the lack of motivation and the importance of setting goals. One of the most astonishing and motivating feelings was that of creating the website and materializing the idea. It turns out that people talk about great ideas that we never take the time or courage to materialize, and we (the Sustainable Knowledge Team) hope that this little vocational project can serve as an example and inertia breaker for you and us.

Another important teaching was that of the power of social networks, and the logistics that each post requires. Since the start of this project, we found it quite tough to drive people to our platform when any new article was uploaded, so after publishing some of them we came up with the idea of posting all of them in social media. We started with LinkedIn, where the content we publish is more likely to be read and shared. Later on, we created an Instagram profile and a Twitter account which allowed us to increase the site’s reach. Finally, we used Reddit, which we may say, is the main source of views that we get for in our platform. Even though we use all of them with the same purpose, reaching as much public as possible, we have learnt how to use each of them in very different ways and automatized all of them to optimize and make the process more efficient. It is surprising how Sustainable Knowledge has been able to reach so many people through them.

It feels very satisfying and gives a lot of pride to share with others what you do (readings, work, hobbies, etc..), especially when you get positive feedback from friends and relatives.  Due to this reason, we are surprised at the challenge that has been to motivate people to write and share. We, the Sustainable Knowledge team, are not writers and have been learning to do so in conjunction with the development of this project. We now understand it is arduous and requires courage, and that’s why we really value the work of people who have the boldness to jump into it. The team would like to encourage it’s readers to create their space within the Sustainable Knowledge platform, and remind that all the possible efforts will be made to provide support and guidance in the process if required.

The objective of the site still remains to provide all of you a space which you can access anytime, and grasp or share a new knowledge or point of view with the community. There are still many ideas which we will like to develop, like videos, interviews or even podcasts. The site had a reach that we never conceived of, and this will definitely encourage us to put a bigger effort to our work.

Thank you all for the support and your readings.

Sincerely,

The Sustainable Knowledge Team.
